What does HTML come from?
HTML is defined precisely using a document type definition, or DTD, written using SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language). The DTD formally defines the structure of HTML documents. IT defines what elements a document can contain, their possible relationships to one another inside a document, and their possible attributes and values.
